Jammu: Senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF on Sunday conducted an extensive review of security arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in Kathua and Samba districts along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, officials said.
Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) Bhim Sen Tuti, accompanied by CRPF Inspector General Amol V Homkar, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range) Shridhar Patil and DIG CRPF Awadhesh Pathak, toured key locations to assess the security grid, inter-agency coordination and operational preparedness for the pilgrimage, which began on July 3, a police officer said.
At Lakhanpur — the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir in Kathua — Tuti visited the Reception Centre and reviewed the deployment of forces, frisking and checking procedures and other security measures.
He then chaired a security review meeting and directed officers to maintain heightened alertness, ensure 24×7 surveillance and provide all possible assistance to the pilgrims.
Earlier, a high-level security review meeting was held in Samba district, where the officers received a comprehensive briefing on the district’s yatra deployment plan, border protection grid, community kitchens, lodgement centres, surveillance mechanisms and convoy security arrangements.
The prevailing security scenario and intelligence inputs received were also reviewed, and all field officers were directed to remain operationally alert, extra vigilant, and maintain a high level of readiness, the official said.
Tuti emphasised seamless coordination among the police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other security agencies, continuous information sharing, enhanced operational synergy and regular briefing of personnel deployed on yatra duties.
Homkar stressed sustained supervision of the security grid and directed regular joint inspection and checking of deployments by senior officers of the district police and CAPFs to ensure strict implementation of security protocols.
