Kupwara: Director General, Rural Sanitation, Jammu and Kashmir, Anoo Malhotra on Saturday reviewed the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) initiatives in Kupwara district and directed officials to complete all sanitation projects within the stipulated timelines.
The review meeting was attended by Deputy Director Rural Sanitation Kashmir Shabir Ahmad Hakak, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Kupwara Ab Rashid Sheikh, Assistant Commissioner Development Kupwara Ab Rashid Ganaie, Block Development Officers, engineers, consultants and other officials.
The meeting reviewed the status of rural sanitation assets, door-to-door waste collection services, tendering of sanitation infrastructure, operation and maintenance of existing assets, and other works being implemented under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).
Conducting a block-wise review, Malhotra asked Block Development Officers to accelerate the pace of implementation and ensure timely execution of all sanctioned works.
She directed the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Kupwara, to closely monitor ongoing projects and ensure their completion within the prescribed timeframe.
The Director General also stressed the need to strengthen door-to-door waste collection services and make sanitation assets, including Plastic Waste Management Units, segregation sheds and other related infrastructure, fully functional for the benefit of rural communities.
She emphasised that effective planning, regular monitoring and coordinated efforts at the block level were essential for achieving the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) and sustaining rural sanitation in the district.
