Jammu: The J&K Relief Organisation has rejected a news report published in a local daily regarding ration distribution under the Special Relief Ration Scheme for Kashmiri/Jammu migrants, terming it “incomplete” and “misleading.”
In an official clarification, the organisation stated that the report creates “unwarranted propaganda” and does not reflect the actual implementation of the scheme.
According to the department, ration distribution is being carried out by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department in line with the Special Relief Ration Scheme for Kashmiri Migrants, as notified under Government Order No. 15-JK(FCS&CA) of 2026 dated March 5, 2026.
Officials said supplies are being distributed through 32 designated ration depots across Jammu district, including the Jagti Mini Township, which houses over 5,200 migrant families.
The organisation clarified that all Relief Ration Card holders—whether Priority Household (PHH), Non-Priority Household (NPHH) or Special Category—are receiving 11 kg of free ration per person per month, along with 1 kg of sugar. Migrants falling under the non-relief category, such as pensioners classified under NPHH, continue to receive ration at government-approved rates under the National Food Security Act.
It further stated that the government has amended relevant rules through S.O. 392 and S.O. 393 of 2024 to integrate migrant ration cards into the NFSA database, enabling beneficiaries to access a range of social welfare schemes. Additionally, Government Order No. 27-JK(DMRRR) of 2025 maintains that the existing scale of ration distribution and administrative norms remain unchanged.
“These clarifications have already been widely communicated through public notices and awareness campaigns,” the organisation said, adding that around 450 migrant families have already benefited from various welfare schemes following the integration.
Reiterating its stance, the department said the concerns raised in the report are unfounded and were published without seeking the official version, asserting that all measures are being implemented in accordance with established rules and government orders.
