Srinagar,: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Monday led a plantation drive at Lasjan–Panthachowk, combining environmental conservation with social reform under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan.
The initiative, organised by the District Administration Srinagar in collaboration with the Urban Forestry Division, aimed to reinforce the message of a cleaner, greener and drug-free society while promoting environmental sustainability.
The drive witnessed participation from senior officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioners Mir Imtiyaz-ul-Aziz and Aadil Fareed, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, District Social Welfare Officer Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, and DFO Urban Dr Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh, along with students from various schools and colleges.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner planted a deodar sapling and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in enhancing green cover, addressing climate change and building environmental awareness among citizens.
Labroo said the plantation drive reflects a dual commitment—towards environmental sustainability and a drug-free society—adding that such efforts contribute to the overall well-being of the community while strengthening the objectives of the 100-day campaign.
The event also saw active participation from local residents, environmental volunteers and social activists, reflecting growing public engagement and a shared sense of responsibility in promoting both ecological balance and a drug-free society.
