Srinagar: A large number of social and political activists from the Hazratbal and Zadibal constituencies joined the Apni Party at a function held at the party headquarters in Srinagar on Saturday.
Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, along with senior party leaders, welcomed the new entrants and assured them of opportunities to serve the people in their respective areas.
Addressing the gathering, Apni Party general secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir said the joining of youth and activists from Srinagar would strengthen the party’s presence in the city and add momentum to its public outreach efforts.
Provincial president Mohammad Ashraf Mir said the party was committed to creating better opportunities for young people and addressing issues such as unemployment and limited political participation.
District president Srinagar Zafar Habib said the party would continue to work for the welfare of the people and stand by its workers in addressing public concerns.
Senior leader Syed Mohammad Akhoon, who had earlier served in the National Conference, said he joined Apni Party because of what he described as its inclusive political culture, where both leaders and workers are encouraged to contribute and express their views.
Among those who joined the party were Suhail Ahmad Wani, Tufail Hussain Zaildar, Aijaz Ahmad Bakka, Adil Chikla, Waseem Dar, Tanveer Qazi, NC Block President Dargah Hazratbal Majid Ahmad Pathan, Waseem Chikla, Osama Jan, Raja Dar, Sameer Baba, Shoaib Pandith, Murtaza Bhat, Idrees Baba, Bilal Ahmad Sodagar, Shabir Ahmad Sofi, Rayees Ahmad Wani, Kounsar Ahmad Dar, Hashim Mir and Sarwar Ahmad Shah, along with their supporters.
Several senior Apni Party leaders, including chief spokesperson Muntazir Mohiuddin, district presidents and office-bearers from different districts, were present on the occasion.
