Jammu: Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northern Circle, Dinesh Chand Deshwal on Friday completed the safety inspection of the Katra-Srinagar section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) in light of the region’s challenging geographical terrain and weather conditons.
Deshwal inspected the rail corridor from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar and expressed satisfaction with the construction quality and safety standards on the strategically important rail link, officials said.
Jammu Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar, along with other senior railway and project officials, were present during the inspection, they said.
The officials said that the inspection covered the railway track, tunnels, bridges, stations and other safety-related infrastructure on the section. The chief CRS also reviewed operational safety, passenger amenities, signalling systems and emergency response arrangements, they added.
Divisional Railway Manager Kumar said the railway administration would implement the suggestions made during the inspection and address any shortcomings within the stipulated timeframe to facilitate the commencement of passenger services.
