In another tweet, Bandipora Police said that it has recovered a charas-like substance along with a cash seizure of 71,845 and arrested one lady Babli Begum who is a repeat offender, presently out on bail in an earlier NDPS Case. “Cognizance is taken under the relevant sections of NDPS Act in PS Bandipora,” it added.

Senior Superintendent of Bandipora Police, Lakshay Vinod Sharma said that the entire family has been involved in selling charas in the town and their arrest is likely to end the supply network of drugs like charas in Bandipora town.

Notably, in Bandipora’s main town, one of the localities known as ward number-6 the area to which both the accused belong is the most infamous for the drug scourge on which the senior citizens have always been concerned.

KNO has learnt that even parents didn’t want their children to pass through this area fearing that they may get involved in drug activities. However, the police have been keeping vigil in this area for the last several weeks and arresting the drug Peddlers.

Meanwhile, another police officer said that they are determined to eradicate the drug scourge from the roots while its ecosystem will be destroyed in the district.

“No one in the district will be spared under any circumstances regarding the drug scourge,” he said while appealing to people to cooperate with the police to eradicate the drug menace in the district.

“In a bid to eradicate drug menace from the society, many counseling sessions were organized by the police in several areas of the district,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, the people of the district have praised the action of the police and said that such people should always remain behind bars.
