RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan on Tuesday inspected ongoing four-laning works on the Ramban-Banihal stretch of National Highway-44 and directed executing agencies to expedite construction while adhering to quality and safety standards.
Accompanied by senior police, traffic and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials, the Deputy Commissioner visited several project sites, including Maroge, Digdole, Khuni Nallah, Panthyal, Magerkote, Nachilana and Gangroo, to assess progress on major viaducts and tunnels.
He reviewed the physical progress of works, timelines and challenges affecting execution, and stressed the need for close coordination among NHAI, executing agencies and government departments to remove bottlenecks and ensure timely completion of the project.
The Deputy Commissioner also inspected measures being taken to stabilise landslide-prone and vulnerable stretches along the highway. He directed the agencies to strengthen slope protection, drainage systems and other mitigation measures to improve commuter safety and minimise traffic disruptions.
Highlighting the challenges posed by the region’s terrain and weather conditions, Khan called for proactive implementation of safety measures and regular monitoring of project sites to ensure completion of works within the approved schedule.
