KISHTWAR: Health and Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare Minister Sakeena Itoo on Tuesday visited Chatroo subdivision in Kishtwar district, where she inaugurated and reviewed several education and healthcare projects and announced upgrades to health facilities in the area.
During the visit, the minister laid the foundation stone for the remodelling of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Chatroo at an estimated cost of ₹13.27 crore. She also inaugurated the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Inderwal and inspected the ongoing construction work of Government Degree College (GDC) Chatroo, for which ₹10.62 crore has been sanctioned.
Addressing public grievances at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Chatroo, Itoo heard demands related to the upgradation of schools and strengthening of healthcare infrastructure. She directed MLA Inderwal Pyare Lal Sharma to submit a consolidated list of issues raised by residents for priority-based consideration and redressal.
The minister announced that NTPHC Mughal Maidan would be upgraded to a Primary Health Centre (PHC), while PHC Chatroo would be upgraded to a Sub-District Hospital to improve healthcare services in the region.
During the programme, motorised tricycles, wheelchairs, baby kits and baby blankets were distributed among beneficiaries. Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, sports kits and school bags were provided to government schools, while hearing aids were distributed among beneficiaries.
Appointment letters were also handed over to newly appointed Anganwadi workers.
MLA Inderwal Pyare Lal Sharma, Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Vinod Kumar Behal and several district and sectoral officers accompanied the minister during the visit.
