Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Indu Kanwal Chib on Monday directed all departments to remain on high alert and ensure coordinated preparedness in view of the weather advisory issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar.
Chairing a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the district’s preparedness and flood mitigation measures to deal with any eventuality arising from the prevailing weather conditions.
She directed all concerned departments to ensure effective inter-departmental coordination and maintain adequate stocks of rescue and relief material at all block and niabat offices to enable a prompt response during emergencies.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed all Revenue and Disaster Management officers not to leave their respective stations without prior permission from the competent authority to ensure emergency response mechanisms remain fully functional.
She reviewed the availability and operational status of dewatering pumps across the district on a zone-wise basis and directed the concerned departments to keep all equipment functional and ready for deployment.
The Deputy Commissioner also assessed the stock position of essential commodities and medical supplies and instructed the departments concerned to maintain adequate reserves to meet any emergency requirement.
Reiterating that public safety remains the administration’s top priority, Chib directed all departments to maintain round-the-clock monitoring of vulnerable areas and ensure a swift response to any weather-related incident.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of various departments.
