Srinagar: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, and Science and Technology Satish Sharma on Monday met several delegations from across Jammu and Kashmir and assured them that their genuine grievances would be addressed in coordination with the concerned departments.

Among those who met the Minister was a delegation of Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) teachers led by MLA Khansahib Saif-ud-Din Bhat, which sought regularisation of ReK teachers, improvement in their service conditions and a comprehensive policy to address their long-pending demands. The delegation highlighted the role of ReK teachers in promoting sports and nurturing talent at the grassroots level.

Sharma said the government was aware of the issues faced by the Rehbar-e-Khel community and assured the delegation that their genuine concerns would be addressed. He acknowledged the contribution of ReK teachers to the sports ecosystem and said efforts would be made to arrive at a practical and sustainable solution.

A delegation of the Mutton Dealers Association also met the Minister and thanked the administration for resolving issues affecting the trade. The members appreciated the government’s intervention in ensuring the smooth functioning of the sector.

Interacting with the delegation, Sharma said the government remained committed to balancing consumer interests with the legitimate concerns of traders and would continue to engage with stakeholders to ensure transparent and efficient functioning of the sector.

Several other delegations from different districts also met the Minister and raised issues related to public services, youth welfare, sports infrastructure, technology-driven governance and developmental initiatives.

Assuring all delegations of appropriate action, Sharma said the issues would be examined on merit and taken up with the concerned departments. He added that regular interaction with the public and stakeholders was essential for responsive governance and effective policy-making to ensure that the benefits of development reach every part of Jammu and Kashmir.
