JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday flagged off a Mobile Medical Care Unit supported by HDFC Bank Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, HDFC Parivartan, to strengthen healthcare delivery in Ramban district.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated HDFC Bank for the initiative, which will operate in the Jammu division for 27 months and complement the region’s public health infrastructure.
The mobile unit will function on a roster-based schedule, delivering doorstep primary healthcare services through a team comprising an MBBS doctor, a Community Health Officer, nursing staff and a community mobiliser.
Equipped with 84 essential medicines, the vehicle also has facilities for point-of-care diagnostic tests, including haemoglobin, blood sugar, urine pregnancy, chikungunya, malaria, typhoid and dengue.
Besides providing daily outpatient services, the unit will focus on maternal and child healthcare, non-communicable diseases, seasonal, water-borne and vector-borne diseases. It will also offer antenatal and postnatal care, regular screening for diabetes and hypertension, quarterly specialist health camps, health awareness programmes and school health initiatives.
The flag-off ceremony at Lok Bhavan, Jammu, was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, HDFC Bank Zonal Head Sachin Mahajan, J&K Head Meera Choudhary, Cluster Head Abhishek Khajuria, Smile Foundation Health Head Satnam Singh, and other representatives of HDFC Bank and the Smile Foundation.
