CUS launches PhD programme with interactive session for inaugural batch

37 scholars enrolled across nearly 15 disciplines in maiden doctoral batch

Srinagar: Cluster University Srinagar on Tuesday organised an interactive session with its maiden batch of PhD scholars for the academic session 2026, marking a significant milestone in the university’s academic journey.

The event was held at Government College of Education IASE on M.A. Road Srinagar.

Officials said a total of 37 scholars have enrolled in the university’s PhD programme across nearly 15 disciplines offered by constituent colleges including Government College of Education IASE, Sri Pratap College, Government College for Women MA Road, Amar Singh College and Government Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College Bemina.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Mobin briefed scholars about the curriculum and framework of the PhD programme and highlighted the university’s vision of promoting quality research, academic excellence and innovation.

The session provided scholars an opportunity to directly interact with university authorities and gain insights into the institution’s research ecosystem.

Addressing the scholars, Seema Naz stressed the importance of dedication, academic integrity and innovative thinking in higher education and urged the scholars to undertake meaningful and socially relevant research.

She encouraged the students to utilise the university’s academic and research resources effectively and contribute both to global academia and local society.

Others who addressed the gathering included Syed Wilayat Rizvi, Khurshid Ahmad Mir and Ghulam Hassan Dar along with faculty supervisors from various constituent colleges.

Among those present were Yasmeen Farooq, Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat and Haris Izhar Tantray besides senior faculty members, department heads and university officials.

The programme concluded with an interactive session during which scholars engaged with faculty members and university officials on academic and research-related matters.
