DC Ganderbal reviews SANJY-2026 preparations at Baltal Base Camp

Ganderbal: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore on Friday visited Baltal Base Camp to review preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 (SANJY-2026).

During the visit, the DC inspected arrangements from Y-Junction to the Domail access gate and reviewed the progress of infrastructure and facilities being developed for pilgrims.

He assessed the status of parking areas, improvement of pony tracks at Baltal and Domail, barricading at pony stands and other allied facilities at the base camp.

The DC directed Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to ensure adequate lighting at important locations, especially the pony stand area witnessing heavy pilgrim movement.

The Irrigation and Flood Control Department was instructed to expedite drainage and crate protection works, while telecom agencies were asked to ensure uninterrupted connectivity along the yatra route and base camp.

The Labour Department was directed to establish registration camps for workers and service providers associated with the yatra, including at Sonamarg.

The Traffic Department was asked to prepare a comprehensive traffic management plan, while Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) was instructed to ensure adequate transport facilities and ticket counters for pilgrims.

The DC also directed the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to ensure timely snow clearance and maintenance of the yatra track.

Later, the DC chaired a meeting at Sonamarg with officers and representatives of service providers to finalise rates for ponies, palkis, dandies and tents for SANJY-2026 via the Baltal route.

He stressed that overcharging must be prevented and directed all stakeholders to strictly follow approved rates. The DC also instructed that all tents should be equipped with fire extinguishers to ensure pilgrim safety.

Representatives of service providers assured cooperation for smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama, officials from various departments, representatives of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and telecom agencies were present during the visit and meetings.
