Srinagar: Police on Monday intensified its anti-drug awareness campaign across several districts of Kashmir under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan”, organising awareness programmes, rallies, street plays and community outreach activities to educate people about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
In Budgam, police conducted a series of anti-drug awareness programmes and village-level Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings at various locations across the district. As part of the campaign, street plays (Nukkad Nataks) were organised at Mouchwa, awareness interactions were held with shopkeepers and traders at Main Market Soibugh, while a poster and slogan competition was conducted at PM Shri GBHS Humhama.
Village-level PCPG meetings were also held at Kawoosa Narbal, GMS Zoolwa Mouchwa, Jeelan Abad Humhama, Rathson Beerwah, Hardushurash Khag, Futlipora Pakherpora and Zabbigullah Hardupanzo.
Police officials sensitised participants about the dangers of drug abuse and urged the public to remain vigilant against drug-related activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in curbing the menace.
In Baramulla, police organised an awareness programme at Government Middle School Kawcheck Kreeri under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Students and staff were educated about the social, psychological and legal consequences of substance abuse.
The participants also took a pledge to work towards a drug-free society. An awareness rally carrying banners and raising anti-drug slogans was later held in and around the area with active participation from students, teachers and local residents.
Meanwhile, police in Awantipora conducted a series of awareness programmes in different educational institutions across the district. Programmes were organised by Police Station Khrew at Government Middle School Mandakpal, by Police Post Reshipora at Iqbal Memorial Public School Dogripora, by Police Station Tral at Government Girls Middle School Pinglish, and by Police Station Awantipora at Government High School Midoora.
Police Post Aripal also organised a programme at Government Primary School Dharamgund, where participants were informed about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying away from drugs.
In Ganderbal, police organised an anti-drug awareness programme at Dar-Ul-Aloom Fatima Tul Zehra (RA), Sandbal, under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan.
The programme was attended by DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Umer Urfan and DySP DAR DPL Ganderbal Altaf Khan, who interacted with students and staff and highlighted the growing threat of substance abuse in society. They urged the youth to stay away from narcotics and play an active role in spreading awareness against drug abuse.
