Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Thursday held an interaction with Numberdars and Chowkidars at the Mini Secretariat to discuss ways to curb drug abuse and build stronger community participation in the district’s anti-drug campaign.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that tackling drug abuse requires a collective effort. She underlined the role of the administration, police, teachers, parents and community representatives, saying coordinated action is essential to address the growing concern effectively. She added that the administration is working round the clock to respond to public concerns and implement preventive measures on the ground.
Participants welcomed the initiative and appreciated the Deputy Commissioner’s outreach. They said issues like drug abuse cannot be handled by the government alone and require active involvement from society as well. Many noted that such interactions help bridge gaps and improve coordination between the administration and the public.
Several participants also raised local concerns during the discussion and assured full support to the administration in its efforts to combat drug abuse while maintaining peace and social harmony in the district.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Numberdars from different areas flagged the issue of delayed honorarium and called for its timely disbursement.
Responding to the discussion, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the importance of continued community outreach programmes, saying greater public participation is key to addressing social challenges and ensuring effective governance at the grassroots level.
