Indian Army organises Machhal Cricket Premier League

Kupwara: Indian Army organised Machhal Cricket Premier League to engage the youth of this remote area in sporting activities and to provide exposure to tournaments.

“This initiative has been formed under the umbrella of Sadhbhavana projects which focuses on the socio-economic development of this remote belt,” said PRO (Defence) Srinagar.

“Machhal Cricket Premier League was conducted from 12 Jul to 18 Aug 2022. A total of 16 teams participated and 56 matches were played during the tournament,” the PRO said.

“The final match of this tournament was played between Chountiwari Bala and Sheikh Eleven Dudi in which Chountiwari Bala emerged as champions, beating Sheikh Eleven Dudi by 5 wickets. All the members of the winning team were felicitated with medals and cricket kits,” he said.

“The locals of Machhal Bowl highly appreciated the event which will instil a sense of sportsmanship amongst the youth,” he added.
