Ganderbal, Feb 26: The public advisory of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department ‘save water’ has fallen flat in Tulamulla village of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district as portable drinking water is being wasted here due to multiple leakages in the pipeline.

Local residents of Hydaria colony Tulamulla said, “Our area is most affected due to leakages in the pipeline. We are facing water scarcity because portable water doesn’t reach our tapes as most of the water gets leaked.”

“The pipeline is decades old and has damaged at many places. We have approached the concerned officials several times requesting them to replace the pipeline but to no avail,” they added.

When contacted Executive Engineer PHE, Ganderbal said: “We have issued tenders for replacing the damaged pipeline in Tulamulla and the work will be started very soon.”
