Militant, OGW held in Sopore: Police

Srinagar, Apr 03: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a militant and an over ground worker (OGW) of Ansar Gazwat ul Hind from Hygam area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

“Acting on a specific input about the movement of the militants of Ansar Gazwat ul Hind led by Zakir Musa at Chek Hygam in Sopore, the joint team of Army’s 55 RR Army and SOG of police laid a ‘naka’ (checkpoint) and arrested two activists,” a police officer said.

“During the checking of vehicles at Hygam Sopore, forces witnessed suspicious behaviour of two persons inside a vehicle, who were travelling from Srinagar toward Sopore. During the checking of vehicle, police recovered two hand-grenades and one pistol from their possession,” a police official told ‘Kashmir Images’.

The officer identified the arrested person as a militant Parvaiz Ahmad of Dadsara, Tral, and the Aamir Ahmad (OGW) of Bohoo, Awantipora.

The official further said that the duo was planning to recruit fresh youth in the outfit in north Kashmir.

“A case under relevant section of law has been registered and further investigations initiated,” the official said.
