Inaugurates Meeting Hall at JKCL

SRINAGAR, MAY 28: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, industries and commerce, Asiea Naqash today visited Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited (JKCL) and reviewed its functioning.

At JKCL Khrew, Managing Director JK Cements Atul Sharma briefed the Minister about the activities of the Company through a power point presentation. The Minister was informed that JK Cements has recorded highest ever revenue of Rs 114 crore during in 2017-18 in last five years and the corporation has a set sale revenue target of Rs 150 crore for the financial year 2018-19.

The Minister said that the government is committed to upgrade all industrial units of the State and special focus will be given for upgradation of JKCL and hoped its progress will continue in future too.

With regards to its environment-friendly measures, the Minister was informed that the company has installed high-efficiency pollution control devices in different sections of the Plant and have reduced pollution upto 90 percent in the area.

Later, the workers put forth their demands and the Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured them that their all genuine demands would be looked into on priority.

The Minister also inaugurated the meeting hall at JKCL.

The Minister was accompanied by Managing Director, Atul Sharma, VC JK Cement, Er. Nazir Ahmad Yatoo, Secretary JK Cement, Muneer Ahmad, DGM JK Cement, Javaid Ahmad Hakeem and other officials of JK Cement.

The Minister also visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Khrew to reviewed its functioning. She visited various wards, OPD and laboratories of the hospital. The Minister interacted with patients and their attendants regarding healthcare being provided at the hospital. She urged the hospital authorities and staff to ensure better healthcare to the patients.

The Minister also visited Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Sempora, Pampore where she inspected the renovated top floor of the JKEDI building that was damaged earlier.

Director JKEDI, Dr M.I Parray briefed the Minister about the Institute, its working and mandate. During her visit, the Minister said that Entrepreneurship is the most viable option to tackle unemployment in the state and said JKEDI is doing a great job in handholding budding entrepreneurs.

She said that J&K has tremendous potential in dairy farming, sheep farming and allied sectors wherein educated unemployed youth can set up their entrepreneurial ventures with the support from JKEDI.
