Srinagar, July 24: Peoples Conference senior vice President and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Wednesday urged the Governor of the state, Satyapal Malik, to fast track investigations on corruption cases against previous governments of NC & PDP.

According to the PC spokesperson, Vakil while addressing a party workers meeting at Tulsi Bagh said, “The departments that deal with corruption have been paralyzed by the previous governments in order to give their corrupt leaders a free hand. The Governor administration should strengthen the Accountability Commission and Vigilance department to ensure transparent governance.”

While demanding stringent punishment for officers involved in the infamous health insurance scheme fraud, Vakil said, “It has been a while since the fraud came into light and still the names of the ones who are involved are not out in the public. Hon’ble Governor voiced this fraud when it came to light not only on state level but on the national level as well, however; the officers involved in the scam have not been named and punished yet.”

Vakil said that the accountability commission has named many ex-ministers in cases of corruption but no action has been taken as of now.

“The ones who are involved in corruption have taken adjournment orders from the High Court and no government has acted officially against these adjournment orders. This is because NC and PDP are in a secret pact to save their corrupt leaders. It is astonishing that no action has been taken against these adjournment orders for the past so many years,” he added.

Accusing NC leadership for the deteriorating situation of Jammu & Kashmir, Vakil said that “had 1987 elections not been rigged by NC, situation would have been different and we would not have lost thousands of lives and innumerable eye-sights in the last three decades of conflict, the party senior vice president added.
