Bootlegger arrested in Anantnag

Srinagar, March 11: Anantnag police has arrested a bootlegger and recovered 130 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession.

A police spokesman, in a statement issued here said that acting on specific inputs from last few days regarding involvement of a person in the sale and purchase of banned illicit liquor, a police party headed by SHO Mattan Tawseef Ahmad raided a house in Kherebal Mattan area of Anantnag. 130 pouches of illicit liquor was recovered and seized from the house.

One person identified as Nisar Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir was arrested who used to sell this liquor among the youth and students of the area.

A case FIR number 15/2018 under section 48 Excise Act was registered in Police Station Mattan. The investigation of the case is going on and more arrests are expected in near future.
