Srinagar, March 27: Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has condemned the arresting of TeH District Secretary Budgam, Ab. Majeed Rather and the ongoing arrest spree and massive crackdown of pro-freedom leaders and activists across the valley and booking them under the PSA and shifting outside jails.

In a statement issued here, Sehrai termed it a sheer political vendetta and authoritative approach to choke every political dissent.

He said: “Choking political space and caging political leadership and activists to such an extent is not a democracy rather suppression. When space peaceful political dissent is choked to an extreme extend .It is only violence that gets glorified putting every other civilized means in total jeopardy.”

He further said: “The dissent is essence of democracy which they have been claiming across the globe but GOI miserably failed to live up to that. The suppression and oppression will only deteriorate the situation and such anti Kashmir policies will not change the reality of Kashmir and its historical nature.”
