BARAMULLA: The Kupwara football team won the second edition of the Behrampora Football Cup 2026, defeating the host Behrampora team in the final played at Behrampora Sports Field on Monday.
Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives and Election Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, attended the final as chief guest and felicitated the winners and runners-up.
The minister congratulated both teams and appreciated the participating players and organisers for conducting the tournament.
During the event, Dar announced the provision and upgradation of sports infrastructure at Behrampora Sports Field. He said macadamisation work would also be undertaken wherever required to improve facilities for players and local sports enthusiasts.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said sporting activities play an important role in youth engagement and provide opportunities for talent development and participation in competitive events.
He also interacted with players, organisers and local residents and appreciated the efforts made in organising the tournament.
The final was attended by public representatives, sports enthusiasts and residents from Behrampora and adjoining areas.
