Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday organised a road race in Shopian as part of its Civic Action Programme to promote physical fitness and spread awareness against drug abuse among youth.
The race was flagged off by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary and covered the route from Batapora Stadium to Arhama Mandi.
Police said the event witnessed participation from local youth and sports enthusiasts and was aimed at encouraging healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship and constructive engagement among young people.
The programme also carried an anti-drug message, with participants urged to stay away from substance abuse and take up productive activities.
Winners of the race were awarded cash prizes and mementos in recognition of their performance. Speaking on the occasion, the SSP highlighted the role of sports and recreational activities in promoting physical well-being and steering youth away from drug addiction.
