Kargil: More than 150 young athletes participated in the ASMITA Wushu City League competitions held separately in Leh and Kargil this month, providing a platform for emerging players to showcase their talent.
The Kargil edition of the league was held from August 29 to 30 and witnessed the participation of around 90 athletes from different blocks of the district. The event was organised under the aegis of the Wushu Association of India and conducted locally by the Wushu Association of Ladakh.
Nutritionist Bilques Fatima attended the closing function as chief guest and encouraged athletes to focus on fitness, nutrition and healthy lifestyles to excel in sports.
Earlier, the Leh leg of the competition was held from August 12 to 13, attracting around 70 participants. Dr. Stanzin Gyatso attended the event as chief guest and interacted with the athletes.
Officials said the tournaments offered young Wushu players in Ladakh an opportunity to gain competitive exposure and assess their skills ahead of higher-level competitions. The Wushu Association of Ladakh thanked athletes, coaches, officials and organisers for the successful conduct of both events.
