Jammu: Health and Medical Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Monday visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to review the condition of girl students injured in a road accident and directed doctors to ensure round-the-clock monitoring and the best possible medical care.
The minister visited hospital wards, interacted with the injured students and enquired about their treatment and facilities being provided. She also sought a detailed briefing from doctors and hospital authorities regarding the nature of injuries and treatment being administered to each patient.
Directing the GMC administration to ensure comprehensive care, Sakeena said all necessary medical resources should be mobilised for the speedy recovery of the injured students.
“The health and well-being of every injured girl is our foremost concern. Every possible facility will be made available to ensure their best possible treatment,” she said.
The minister instructed doctors to closely monitor critically injured patients and ensure timely medical intervention wherever required. She also stressed the need for proper coordination among departments and the availability of medicines, diagnostic services, surgical facilities and other essential support.
Expressing hope for the early recovery of the injured students, Sakeena assured all necessary assistance to the patients and their families.
Hospital authorities informed the minister that dedicated teams of doctors and paramedical staff were attending to the injured and that all required treatment arrangements had been put in place.
Meanwhile, Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Minister Sakeena Itoo met several public delegations and individuals from across Jammu division at the Civil Secretariat and listened to issues related to healthcare, education, social welfare, roads, power and water supply, and other public services.
During the interaction, the delegations sought resolution of various developmental and welfare concerns. The minister also sought feedback on the implementation of government schemes and services at the grassroots level and assured that genuine issues would be examined on priority.
Itoo said regular interaction with the public is an essential component of responsive governance and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that people’s concerns are addressed through a time-bound mechanism.
She directed concerned officers to examine the issues raised and take necessary follow-up action within stipulated timelines. The minister also stressed the need for close coordination with the public to ensure that eligible beneficiaries do not face difficulties in accessing government schemes and services.
Emphasising people-centric governance, she said the government’s focus remains on translating welfare programmes and policy decisions into tangible benefits, particularly for vulnerable and underserved sections of society. She also urged citizens and public representatives to continue providing constructive feedback to strengthen accountability and service delivery.
