Srinagar: Several delegations, political leaders and individuals called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday and projected issues related to tourism, education, border development, public welfare and heritage conservation.
According to an official statement, a delegation led by Shahnawaz Shafi, Principal of Spring Buds Educational Institute, Ompora, Budgam, met the Lieutenant Governor. Social activist Kamran Manzoor from Anantnag and author Rehmatt Bashir also called on him separately.
In another meeting, a delegation of the Janata Dal (United), led by its J&K president G.M. Shaheen, discussed measures for promoting tourism in the Union Territory and raised issues concerning stakeholders associated with the tourism sector and the welfare of daily wagers.
Former Vice Chairman of the District Development Council, Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmed Mir also met the Lieutenant Governor and sought the establishment of a degree college, a medical block for North Lolab, an auditorium and a fire station in the area.
Former MLC and BJP Kupwara district president Syed Mohd Rafiq Shah projected various developmental issues concerning the border areas of Kupwara district.
In a separate meeting, a delegation of the Shri Shri Jagat Amba Sharika Chakreshwar Sanstha discussed issues relating to the conservation and development of the Sharika Temple, the statement added.
