KULGAM: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo on Sunday launched the Pulse Polio Immunization drive from District Hospital Kulgam by administering polio drops to a newborn baby.
Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shahzad Alam, Director Family Welfare J&K, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister highlighted the importance of immunization in protecting children from preventable diseases and ensuring a healthy future for the younger generation.
She appealed to parents and caregivers to bring all children in the 0-5 years age group to the nearest vaccination centres and ensure that no child is left uncovered under the campaign.
Sakeena Itoo said maintaining a polio-free status requires active participation from communities and collective responsibility. She also appreciated the efforts of healthcare professionals and frontline workers for their dedication towards child health.
The Minister stressed the need for intensified awareness campaigns and expressed confidence that with public cooperation and sustained efforts by the Health Department, every eligible child would be reached under the Pulse Polio programme.
