Srinagar: Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat, on Friday led a tree plantation drive at District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar to mark World Environment Day, reaffirming the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police towards environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The DGP planted a sapling during the programme and highlighted the importance of collective efforts in protecting and preserving the environment. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, and DIG Central Kashmir Range Rajiv Pandey also participated in the drive and planted saplings.
SSP Srinagar, Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, along with Zonal SPs and other police officers, attended the event.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP said environmental protection is a shared responsibility and called upon all stakeholders to contribute towards creating a greener, cleaner and healthier future. He stressed the need for sustained efforts to maintain ecological balance and promote environmental awareness among the public.
The plantation drive formed part of J&K Police’s World Environment Day activities aimed at encouraging afforestation and strengthening environmental consciousness across the region.
