Anantnag: Amid rumours of a fuel and LPG shortage, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat, on Wednesday convened a high-level meeting with petrol pump operators and LPG distributors to review stock positions and ensure uninterrupted supply across the district.
The meeting, held at Dak Bungalow Khanabal, was attended by operators associated with Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, along with representatives of various LPG agencies. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Director FCS&CA, and other senior officials were also present.
Officials informed the meeting that adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG are available in the district, and all supply lines are functioning smoothly without any disruption.
The DC issued strict directions to all operators to prevent hoarding and illegal profiteering, warning that any violation would invite legal action. He also directed stakeholders to adhere strictly to administrative guidelines and standard operating procedures to maintain a stable supply chain.
Representatives of petrol pumps and LPG agencies assured full cooperation in ensuring steady and uninterrupted supply to consumers.
Addressing public concerns, the Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to avoid panic buying and refrain from hoarding fuel, cautioning that such practices could inconvenience other consumers.
“There is no shortage of fuel or gas in the district. People should not pay heed to baseless rumours. The situation is being closely monitored and the supply position is comfortable,” he said.
Meanwhile, the district administration has taken serious note of misinformation being circulated on social media. Authorities warned that those spreading rumours or attempting to create artificial scarcity through fake news will face strict legal action.
Residents have been advised to rely only on official communications and follow advisories issued by the district administration.
