District admin Shopian reviews fuel, LPG supply; urges public not to panic

Shopian: The District Administration Shopian on Wednesday reviewed the availability and distribution of essential commodities, particularly petrol, diesel, and LPG, in the district, reiterating that there is no shortage of supplies.

The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Dr Zakir Hussain Faaz, at the Mini Secretariat and was attended by petrol pump owners, LPG agency holders, and concerned officers.

During the meeting, the ADC sought detailed inputs from stakeholders regarding current stock positions, supply mechanisms, and operational challenges on the ground. Emphasising the seriousness of the issue amid public concern, he stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.

Officials informed that sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG are available across the district, and there is no shortage of fuel supplies.

To maintain transparency and prevent malpractice, the administration has put in place strict monitoring mechanisms. The ADC directed all stakeholders to remain vigilant and ensure fair and smooth distribution.

Petrol pump owners were instructed to strictly adhere to government guidelines while dispensing fuel and to ensure proper traffic and crowd management at fuel stations to avoid inconvenience to the public.

During the interaction, stakeholders also raised certain operational issues being faced during distribution. The ADC assured that all genuine concerns would be addressed on priority to facilitate smooth functioning.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shopian Shakoor Ahmad Dar, DySP Headquarters Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, District Information Officer, all Tehsildars, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Tehsil Supply Officers, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, and Assistant Controller Drugs, among others.

The administration urged the public not to panic or engage in panic buying, assuring that the situation remains under control and supplies are being closely monitored.
