Addressing the gathering, the DDC said such initiatives are important in tackling unemployment and making youth self-reliant. He stressed the need for young people and job seekers to explore self-employment opportunities alongside conventional jobs.

Dr. Bilal called for effective implementation of self-employment and livelihood-generation schemes and directed the concerned departments to ensure that job seekers are fully facilitated through awareness and IEC initiatives. He advised youth to come forward and avail the benefits of the flagship Mission YUVA programme, saying the district has already made appreciable progress under the initiative.

He said job fairs serve as an important platform for on-the-spot placement of eligible youth in suitable firms and agencies and urged young people to acquire new skills and improve their employability.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment to support job seekers, the DDC said the concerned departments and financial institutions are working in coordination to ensure smooth and time-bound credit lending and loan disbursement.

During the fair, the DDC inspected stalls set up by line departments and reputed companies and interacted with both employers and participants. He also handed over keys in the automobile sector and distributed sanction letters among Mission YUVA beneficiaries, encouraging entrepreneurship in the district.

The event witnessed participation of around 800 candidates, while nearly 350 vacancies were offered by participating employers. Officials said 18 candidates secured on-the-spot placements and were handed offer letters by the DDC.

The programme reflected the district administration’s continued focus on enhancing employment opportunities and promoting sustainable livelihood avenues for youth in the district.
