Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, on Tuesday launched the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2.0 with a 100-day intensified campaign under the National TB Elimination Programme and flagged off a TB testing van from the DC Office Complex to strengthen early detection and awareness across the district.

The testing van, equipped with a pre-installed CBNAAT facility, will tour different parts of the district during the next 100 days for screening, diagnosis and public awareness. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with senior health functionaries and reviewed the campaign preparations and micro-plan. He appreciated the efforts of the health department in working towards tuberculosis control and elimination in the district.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Labroo said the 100-day campaign aims to accelerate efforts towards TB elimination by ensuring outreach to every section of society, focused screening and testing, increased presumptive testing, greater public awareness and access to free, quality TB care services.

He called upon all stakeholders to work in close coordination for the success of the campaign and noted that tuberculosis continues to remain a public health concern, particularly among vulnerable and high-risk populations.

During the campaign period, health teams will conduct active case finding by reaching out to vulnerable and high-risk groups. The initiative is aimed at early detection of TB cases, spreading awareness about symptoms, prevention and treatment, and providing sustained medical and psychological support to patients for complete recovery.

Among those present on the occasion were Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tahir Sajad, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Raouf, Block Medical Officer Hazratbal Dr. Abdul Majeed, ZMO S.R. Gunj Dr. Shafaqat, ZMO Zadibal Dr. Rubeena, Medical Superintendent Government Gousia Hospital Dr. Arshid, and other officials of the Health Department.
