Srinagar: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, said on Wednesday that different agencies including Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (KPDCL) are working hard to mitigate the difficulties people might have encountered as a result of the recent snowfall in Srinagar.

The Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) and other agencies, DC Srinagar said, will soon develop a plan to restore the Brari Nambal lagoon in Sher-e-Khaas to its former splendour.

In Kashmir, problems with drinking water, power, and drainage often develop during winter, and the government always works to lessen the difficulties the residents encounter by addressing them on priority, DC Srinagar told reporters during his extensive tour to Sher-e-Khaas.

People, he said, do bring problems to the administration for prompt resolution, and the government works quickly to address them.

“So far as electricity, drinking water and electricity in Srinagar are concerned, these issues develop during winters, this is not new, and we have faced such issues in the past as well. But I would like to assure you that every single issue will be resolved with the help of different agencies,” he added.

Responding to a query that crores of rupees have been spent on the restoration of Brari Nambal lagoon so far, but its condition has turned from bad to worse; the DC replied: “We will soon chalk out a strategy with LCMA and other coordinating agencies to restore the pristine glory of the lagoon.”
