Navigating the Path to a Sustainable Future:

Feature:

In a transformative stride towards a sustainable and developed India, the Viksit Bharat SankalpYatra is weaving through the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, embodying a commitment to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. At the heart of this movement lies a comprehensive approach, extending beyond the reduction of carbon footprints to encompass water and plastic footprints, reflecting the urgency outlined in NitiAayog’s 8th Governing Council meeting.

Central to this paradigm shift is India’s Mission LiFE, echoing the global call to ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.’ This initiative underscores the need for collective responsibility in water and energy conservation, alongside structural solutions pursued by the government. Recognizing that climate change poses not only environmental but also economic threats, the mission aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision, acknowledging that unaddressed climate issues could jeopardize India’s thriving economy.

A pivotal aspect of this journey towards sustainability is the introduction of electric buses under the ‘PM-eBusSewa’ scheme. Set to revolutionize urban transportation, the initiative aims to deploy 10,000 electric buses across 169 cities, fostering a symbiotic relationship between public and private sectors. Scheduled for launch in the coming months, the scheme promises environmental benefits and showcases the comfort and efficiency of eco-friendly transportation.

The recent launch of 100 electric buses in Srinagar under the Srinagar Electric Bus Project is a testament to the practical realization of this vision. In a landmark event at Nishat Bus Terminal, LG Sh. Manoj Sinha flagged off a fleet of 75 e-buses, marking a significant step towards the dream of a metro rail in Srinagar and Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, LG Sh. Manoj Sinha emphasized smart mobility as a top priority, stating that the addition of 100 e-buses is a substantial leap towards achieving carbon neutrality.

As the Viksit Bharat SankalpYatra progresses, it not only symbolizes the saturation of government schemes but also represents a call for individual contributions to sustainability. The journey serves as a reminder that beyond structural solutions, every citizen plays a role in securing a better tomorrow. Through initiatives like the ‘PM-eBusSewa’ scheme and Mission LiFE, India strides confidently towards a harmonious balance with ecology, setting the stage for a sustainable and developed nation by 2047.
