SRINAGAR: Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in collaboration with National Health Mission, J&K today started three days of internal assessors training under National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) up to 24th June 2023 for Medical Superintendents, Dy CMOs, Medical Officers and Programme Management Units under NHM from all the Districts of Kashmir Division at Conference Hall, TRC, Srinagar.

Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) was the chief guest in the inaugural session. Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Health said that the main objective of the training is to provide an overview of National Quality Assurance Standards as well as to increase the pool of Internal Assessors in the UT of J&K.

He informed the house that under the supervision of the Secretary to Govt.; Health & Medical Education Department, Bhupinder Kumar the training is being conducted right on time as many health facilities of UT of J&K are being taken up for NQAS certification this financial year.

He stressed upon the participants that the gaps which have been identified during the physical assessment of the health facilities need to be addressed and closed for expediting the national certification process of the shortlisted health facilities.

He also encouraged the participants to implement Quality Assurance in every facility as this will help to improve the Quality of Health care services being delivered to the community. He wished the training to be a great success and for the successful implementation of the National Quality Assurance Standards in respective health facilities in the near future.

Expert trainers from National Health System Resource Centre, Dr Vineeta Dhankhar and Dr Annapoorna Consultants have been deputed by MoH&FW, GoI to impart the training to participants along with National Assessors from the UT of J&K.

Others present on the occasion included Dr Jitender Mehta, State Nodal Officer, Quality Assurance; Dr Qazi Haroon, Divisional Nodal Officer, NHM, Kashmir; Dr Syed Ghazala Nazki, Programme Manager, NHM, J&K; Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, State Programme Manager, NIPI-J&K, National Assessors for NQAS in J&K and other senior officers from NHM, J&K and Health Department.
