Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Monday said that the administration was committed to addressing the issues that Kashmiri Pandit employees appointed under Prime Minister’s Special Package face in the Valley.

Bidhuri, who replaced PK Pole as Div Com Kashmir recently, said the administration addresses the issues faced by these employees in the best possible way.

“I often meet our PM package employees and address their grievances in the best possible way. They had come to meet me today as well; we will try to address their issues,” Bidhuri told reporters after meeting a delegation of such employees.

Statement from the Div Com comes two days after Kashmiri Pandit government employees, who were demanding relocation outside the Valley in the wake of targeted killings, suspended their 310 days long strike on Saturday.

On the inconvenience that people face as a result of the Smart City projects being executed in Srinagar, the Div Com said that people will have to bear it and cooperate with the administration till April 15.

“I have set an April 15 deadline for completion of all the projects being executed under the Smart City program ahead of the G20 summit to be hosted in Srinagar. Work on these projects is being carried out round the clock so the inconvenience people face ends soon; yes people are inconvenienced but they have to face a little bit of inconvenience and cooperate with the administration till things get better on the ground,” he said.

Replying to a separate query on whether the poor people are exempted from the ongoing eviction drive against the land-grabbers, he said people need not worry or panic as the administration is committed to protecting the poor.

“It has been already clarified that the poor will not be touched,” the Div Com added.
