SRINAGAR: Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST Kashmir; former Legislator and BJP ST Morcha delegation today called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha here at Raj Bhawan.

Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST Kashmir briefed the Lt Governor on various issues of academic and administrative importance.

The VC discussed with the Lt Governor the intake of National and International admissions; promotion of sericulture and establishment of 2nd KVKs in Baramulla and Anantnag.

He also informed about the positions advertised at the University.

The Lt Governor advised the VC to take necessary measures to promote excellence in the field of academics, innovation, and research activities for bridging the critical gaps in specialized disciplines.

Similarly, former legislator, Dr Shenaz Ganai also met the Lt Governor and submitted a memorandum of demands pertaining to the development issues of Rajouri – Poonch, including expediting Poonch-Mandi Loran road under BADP; establishment of Munsiff Court at Mandi; establishment of Engineering college, Nursing college & Kendriya Vidyalaya at Poonch and an ITI at Mandi; completion of Polytechnic College & University Campus, Poonch & Mendhar; strengthening of road connectivity; double laning of Betar Bridge Poonch; all weather connectivity from Mughal Road by way of constructing a tunnel; compensation to the farmers who have suffered losses during recent flash floods.

She also drew Lt Governor’s attention towards vacancies in the medical sector and urged for a special recruitment drive in Rajouri-Poonch in armed, paramilitary and police forces.

Later, a delegation of BJP ST Morcha headed by Sh Ch. Roshan Hussain, BJP’s J&K General Secretary (ST) called on the Lt Governor and projected various issues related to Seasonal Teachers, FRC and other local issues of Kokernag area.

The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues projected by Dr Shenaz Ganai and the members of the delegation of BJP ST Morcha and observed that the UT Government is committed to inclusive and equitable development of all the regions and every section of the society.

He assured them that all the genuine issues and demands would be taken up for examination and urged them to continue working towards promoting public welfare.
