Jammu: The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and Phase III of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the national song Vande Mataram were launched across the Jammu region on Sunday, with district administrations organising rallies, cultural programmes and awareness activities.
The campaign, which will continue till August 17, was inaugurated in several districts, including Doda, Kathua, Ramban, Poonch and Udhampur.
In Doda, the district-level programme was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex. The event began with the singing of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem, followed by a Tiranga rally from the DC Office Complex to Government Higher Secondary School Boys. Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal appealed to people to participate in the campaign.
A separate Tiranga rally was also organised in Bhaderwah under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Sunil Kumar Bhutyal. The rally, involving National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, students, officials and members of civil society, passed through the Old Bus Stand and concluded at Seri Bazar.
In Kathua, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma inaugurated the district-level campaign at Government Medical College auditorium. Students delivered speeches on the history of Vande Mataram, the National Flag Code and the National Anthem. The programme concluded with a mass recitation of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem.
Ramban district administration launched the campaign at Government Model Higher Secondary School, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak presided over the event. Activities included a “Selfie with Tiranga” programme, singing of Vande Mataram and screening of a short film on the significance of the national flag and the campaign.
In Poonch, patriotic, cultural and sports activities were organised across all subdivisions and tehsils. Tiranga rallies, sports events and mass singing of Vande Mataram were held with participation from students, youth, government departments, transporters and members of the public.
Meanwhile, in Udhampur, various government departments and educational institutions organised programmes under the campaign. The Motor Vehicles Department held events at the bus stand, auto stand and mini bus stand, with participation from transport unions, drivers and conductors.
Officials said the activities are aimed at promoting awareness about the national flag, encouraging public participation and commemorating the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.
