Rotary Club Jmu launches Neonatal Hearing Screening Van, Gift of Hearing Project

Jammu: Keeping focus on Disease Prevention and Treatment and Mother and Child Care, Rotary Club of Jammu launched Neonatal Hearing Screening Van and Gift of Hearing Project in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in which hearing screening will be done in all the birthing centers at various levels on Saturday, a press release issued here said.

Director Health Services Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman Jammu, inaugurated the Hearing Screening Van at Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Jammu and launched the project in a very simple function being organised by Rotary Club of Jammu. He applauded the efforts of Rotary and assures his support in all the projects related to health services stating that for the last many years Rotarians are working for the upliftment of low socio economic strata of the region and we can never forget the role of Rotary International in the eradication of polio.

He welcomed the other projects; Gift of Life and Gift of Sight, in which Rotary Club of Jammu is working with full zeal.

Rtn. Dr. Navneet Gupta, Audiologist and Speech Pathologist and Project Director of Gift of Hearing screened the neonates in the Gandhi Nagar Hospital stating that any child if found hearing impaired will be treated at various hospitals across nation either free of cost or at the subsidized rates depending upon the ailments. He told that various schemes are available for the low socio economic society in which the hearing impaired people can be treated and gifted with the power of hearing.

Rtn. Dr. Gaurav Vaid, President Rotary Club of Jammu told that our club is committed to keep the maxim “Service Above Self” high. He narrated the achievements of Rotary Club of Jammu, the club has got more than 40 corneal transplants under Gift of Sight and many children underwent successfulheart surgeries for congenital heart disease under Gift of Life project. He further told that the club isworking on various other projects in coordination with Rotary International to support the mankind.

“Very soon, we are coming up with the Medical Camp in association with private hospitals where free surgeries will be conducted for poor patients who need specialized treatments”, he added.

Rotary members throughout the world are working safely and diligently to assess and provide for urgent community needs as they strive to respond and recover from the effects of COVID-19 pandemic.

Rtn. Prem Shankar Singh, Rtn. S.K. Sawhney, Rtn. Sat Pal Verma, Rtn. Harbans Singh, Rtn. Deepak Baboo, Rtn. Dr. Anil Amla and other dignitaries from the club and Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Jammu werepresent to grace the function. Dr Shahid Hussain State Immunizations Officer was also present on the occasion.
