Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Wednesday said that his administration was mulling to re-open all colleges and universities in Kashmir after vaccinating students above 18-years of age.
Talking to reporters on the side-lines of a function at SKICC, LG Sinha said that the government was fully aware of the demands of parents about re-opening of schools in Kashmir.
“We are planning to open higher educational institutions this month only after vaccinating all the students above 18-years-of age and the teaching and non-teaching staff of these institutions,” LG Sinha said.
He said that once the higher educational institutions are open, the administration will deliberate on re-opening of primary and secondary schools keeping in view the over-all Covid-19 situation.
Commenting on the security scenario in Kashmir, LG said that the situation on the security front has improved a lot. “However, challenges may remain and the government and security forces are capable of facing all challenges,” he said.
