JKSA expresses gratitude to EAM, LG for facilitating travel of Kashmiri students to Bangladesh

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Monday expressed gratitude to External Affairs Minister (MEA) Dr S Jaishankar and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for facilitating the travel of Kashmiri students to Bangladesh.

The JKSA spokesperson Nasir Khuehami in a statement this afternoon expressed gratitude to Dr Jaishankar, Sinha and CEO Youth Mission Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for their personal intervention and efforts in resolving the issue of Kashmiri Medical students studying in Bangladesh.

The students were not able to go to Bangladesh due to Covid-19 restrictions.

He said that the association appreciated the prompt and quick response from EAM and LG and Dr Choudhary, adding that they have paid attention to the Kashmiri students in coordinating and facilitating them back to Bangladesh.

He said after the JKSA took the matter with EAM and J&K Government, they immediately intervened and resolved the matter at the earliest possible time.

”We express gratitude to LG Sinha and Dr Choudhary for considering students’ demand and taking the matter with Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Ministry and coordinating with them in getting Visa’s of 25 Kashmiri Students on a priority basis,” he said.

Khuehami said that all students who were stuck in Kashmir due to the Covid-19 lockdown were facilitated to Bangladesh through Agartala border in two batches. “They have reached Bangladesh to take their medical exams in colleges affiliated to the University of Dhaka. They have to go for 14 days mandatory quarantine now,” he added.
