SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Assad, Saturday said that home delivery of selected essentials including ration and bakery will be provided to the people on Eid-ul-Fitr.

DC Srinagar said that Taluk Supply Officers (TSOs) have been instructed to prepare a Mohalla wise schedule for the distribution of ration while vehicle passes were provided to the bakers for supplying bakery to the people at their doorstep.

“COVID-19 SOPs are in place as of now; hence selected essential services are being ensured on upcoming festival especially home delivery of bakery. Bakers were provided vehicle passes so that bakery is made available to the people at their doorstep. Delivery of ration will also be ensured with strict adherence to SOPs,” DC Srinagar told reporters here.

DC Srinagar also said that COVID kits are being provided to the positive patients in Srinagar while bed capacity is being increased at SKIMS Soura and SMHS hospitals. He also said oxygen belt facilities will be provided in COVID centers as per the orders of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.

DC Srinagar said that the hospital admission of COVID positive patients depends on the severity of symptoms.

“In Srinagar COVID kits as per order will be provided to Corona affected people, additional beds are being added in SKIMS which will increase our bed capacity at the tertiary care,” added he.

Describing the COVID-19 virus as dumb, deaf and blind, Assad said that the virus does not recognize its target by face, caste, creed or gender but attacks everyone who violates the laid down SOPs.

“At least we are aware of the dos and don’ts of COVID-19 as we face this for the past one year and are well aware of SOPs but if we still act as ignorant then I think we haven’t learned any lessons yet,” said Aijaz Assad.
