LG Mathur stresses on intensifying RT-PCR tests, recruitment of nurses

Leh: After the PM’s meeting with CMs and LG’s to review status and preparedness of COVID-19 response and management, LG R.K. Mathur today chaired a meeting to take stock of Ladakh’s current COVID handling situation and discussed the plan of action for COVID cases in Ladakh. He also stressed for developing a strategy for distribution of COVID vaccination and directed the concerned department to roll out strategies at the earliest.

The meeting stressed on increasing the number of COVID beds, sufficient oxygen availability, strict adherence to SOPs, especially in Govt. offices and official functions,control on social gatherings, contact tracing, establishment and weekly review of containment zones and most importantly, intensifying the rate of testing.

LG Mathur, reiterating PM Modi’s statement said that we must continue to rely on awareness and publicity and therefore directed the Deputy Commissioners’ of both the districts to intensify educating the public and implying stringent measures for SOP defaulters and also seek help of civil society leaders, religious leaders etc. in these efforts.

Commending the work of the medical department in handling COVID situation even though short on staff, LG Mathur instructed Divisional Commissioner/ Secretary, IT Department to finalize the recruitment of health workers at the earliest so as to ease work load. The Commissioner Secretary apprised LG Mathur of the expected delivery and installation of an additional oxygen concentrator which will further supplement the oxygen supply.

Stating that all corners of Ladakh must be approachable during the winter months, LG Mathur directed the concerned department to conduct trial landing of helicopters as well as ensure adequate satellite phones in the remotest of villages.

The meeting was attended by Advisor Umang Narula, Commissioner Secretary Rigzin Samphael, Divisional Commissioner Saugat Biswas, DIG B.S. Tuti, DC Kargil Baseer-ul-haq Chaudhary, Director Health Dr. Tsering Angchuk, SSP Kargil Vinod Kumar, SSP Leh Stanzin Nurbu, ACR Rigzin Spalgon, CMO Leh Dr. Mutup Dorje and CMO Kargil Dr. Munavar Hussain.
