Srinagar: Senior Vice President Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference and Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today hit out at the present govt for its priorities of opening cinemas and wine shops while overlooking the areas that can uplift lives of people.

In a statement issued here, Vakil said it was very surprising to see at the priorities of the present regime. “Is opening of wine shops and cinemas a road towards Development of Jammu and Kashmir? Where are the jobs for youth, industrial Sector, especially tourism and fruit industry are at the verge of the devastation and Government is just like a silent spectator,” Vakil asked.

Vakil questioned the govt what makes them to ensure delivery of wine in every nook and corner of the region. “People demand employment, better roads, electricity, drinking water, dignified life and you are trying to serve liquor in J&K a place of Rishi’s, Munis and saints . This is a shameful precedence being adopted by the non elected govt of the day,” Vakil added.

“Promoting liquor and opening multiplex cinemas is no road to development but it will deteriorate the religious and cultural fabric of this region,” Vakil said.

“You have shut down the 4G internet services leaving thousands of professional youth jobless who had set up their software parks to earn their livelihood. Instead of helping them to cope up the losses and facilitate Employment options, your priority is wine and cinemas,” Vakil added.
