JAMMU: Around 5,000 Congress leaders and workers from Jammu and Kashmir will participate in a mega rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1 as part of the party and INDIA bloc’s “Vote Bachao-Desh Bachao” campaign against alleged “vote chori”.
The announcement was made by senior Congress leaders at a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu.
PCC Working President Raman Bhalla, former minister Mula Ram, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, Jammu Urban District Congress Committee (DCC) president Yogesh Sawhney, Jammu Rural DCC president Neeraj Kundan and headquarters in-charge Ved Mahajan, a former MLC, addressed the press conference.
Bhalla said thousands of party workers from every district of Jammu and Kashmir would attend the rally, citing the response to the Congress and INDIA bloc’s campaign against alleged electoral irregularities. He alleged that the BJP was attempting to undermine the electoral system through the Chief Election Commissioner.
Ravinder Sharma claimed that the campaign led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had received a strong public response. He accused the BJP and the government of being involved in alleged electoral manipulation through Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Sharma also alleged that the BJP’s frustration over the campaign was reflected in attempts by its local unit to attack the Congress headquarters in Jammu more than twice over the past couple of months. He said the party expected the BJP’s response to intensify as support for the campaign grew.
