SRINAGAR: The Wushu Association of Jammu and Kashmir has announced open selection trials for the Junior J&K Wushu Team that will represent the Union Territory at the 25th Junior National Wushu Championship in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The trials will be held on October 2 and 3 at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar, and will be open to athletes from all affiliated district units.
According to the association, selections will be conducted in both Taolu and Sanda disciplines. District units have been asked to field their best athletes for the trials.
The selected team will participate in the national championship scheduled from October 28 to November 2 in Chennai.
The association said all participants must produce the required documents, including an original Aadhaar card, bank account details, medical fitness certificate, six recent passport-size photographs, insurance documents and a waiver and liability form signed by a parent or guardian. Athletes without the prescribed documents will not be allowed to participate in the trials.
The selection process will be overseen by a committee headed by Dronacharya Awardee Kuldeep Handoo. Other members of the panel include Maqsood Rather, Ajaz Hassan, Kamal Kishore and Munazeh Gazi.
Officials said the trials would be conducted in accordance with the 2024 Sanda and Taolu rules. The association has urged affiliated district units to ensure participation of eligible athletes and comply with all requirements.
