SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has 8,79,112 beneficiaries covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) as of January 1, 2025, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday.
Replying to a question raised by MLA Sajad Gani Lone during Question Hour, the minister said the government had announced a provision for bearing the refill cost of six domestic LPG cylinders annually for AAY families.
He said the benefit would be provided through Aadhaar-enabled Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.
Sharma informed the House that the process for implementing the scheme was underway and various modalities were currently being examined.
He added that the exact financial implications of the initiative would be worked out after finalisation of the scheme and its implementation framework.
