ANANTNAG: Police have arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run case in Kokernag that claimed the life of a local resident earlier this month, officials said on Sunday.
According to police, the accident occurred on September 6 and resulted in the death of Tariq Ahmad Khalas, a resident of Shalnad Lisser in Anantnag district.
Following the incident, FIR No. 133/2026 was registered at Police Station Kokernag under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said the accused, identified as Mohammad Ashraf Bhat of Naikpora, Kulgam, has been arrested. The vehicle allegedly involved in the accident has also been seized.
Officials said the case was solved by Police Station Kokernag under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Kokernag.
Further investigation is underway, police said.
